iToucher Posted August 25, 2010 Share Posted August 25, 2010 i get this error everytime i try to format my NTFS/FAT32 drive to HFS+/NTFS/FAT32. i could not find much of the info on the web, there are some links but it leads to unsolved problem. it is not a faulty dvd because i have already installed it on my previous machine. i tried everything i could but no results. i am formatting a partition where windows is installed. how can i solve this problem ? any help will be greatly appreciated Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What about the last post here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1549660 I could probably help you but it's not at all clear from your post exactly what you're trying to achieve. I don't like to guess but here's an attempt anyway, if I'm completely off the mark it's your fault. Disk Utility cannot work with NTFS partitions, you should manipulate whatever partitions you have using something that runs under Windows and leave the space you want to format to HFS+ blank, unformatted. Then boot from your OS X install DVD and use Disk Utility to format it. Or just buy another hard drive, partition as HFS+J GUID and install OS X on that.
