Hello everyone!

First, I want to thank the people who helped me put tiger on my old machine back when this project started.

Second, I want to thank everybody including iATKOS for the 10.5.7 Leo distro that works seamless on my machine.

Now, I've been trying to install Snow Leopard for 2+ months and I am sooooo close to calling it quits, I've installed SL maybe 10+ times trying a new configuration each time all ending up with kernel panics. So this is my last resort.

I have a Dell studio 540 with these specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.4ghz

750 GB HD

8 GB ram

realtek r1000

Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT OC 256mb

The iATKOS v7 drivers I installed:

APIC driver

Intel SATA/IDE

Disabler

Apple SMBIOS - Netkas [ EDIT ]

AppleDecrypt

VoodooHDA

EFI strings, Natit, NVInject, NVDarwin, NVEnabler don't work with my graphics card so I use CoreVidia 1.1

My question is how can I get snow leopard on this ?

I've read many tutorials on here and from other sites of people trying to get it but to no avail.

These are my circumstances:

My sister's snow leopard dvd that came with her macbook has a system check inside it and does not get past the mac os x eula while using empire EFI. Empire EFI disables or doesn't reconize any of my USB devices including mouse and keyboard. I can't get a retail snow leopard DVD at the moment and If I did, Empire EFI probably wouldn't let me use my mouse.(used legacyboot.iso)

I tried doing Empire EFI + Snow Leopard DVD Image on a USB stick but empire EFI does not go past the verbose mode with the darth vader guy on the screen. I tried booting empire EFI off a USB stick and still doesn't even go past the "ISOLINUX..." part.

While trying to install from Leopard, I tried downloading the updated kexts but there are so many and I can't find a way to figure out which is the updated one. I installed 4 different chamelon distros and still don't work. I tried copying my DSDT and smbios.plist still kernel panic. I used the Post-install MyHackInstaller directly and the boot process kept hanging, from the empire EFI legacyboot.ISO.

I finally put dsmos.kext from netkas and it booted successfully and then waiting a few seconds or clicking gives a kernel panic. The only information that it gives me are the 32 bit registers( booted with -x32 ), hex dump and says MacPro 2,1.

Please can anybody give me instructions and updated kexts so I can get this to work. Or a new way to install this?

Thanks,

Jason

I tried looking up on Dell's site, but without a service code I can't get anything useful, do you know what kind of chipset your board has, that might help. Also, have you tried any distro's? Hazard or the new iATKOS S3 for example. Your post said you tried multiple Chameleon distro's but not sure if you meant only the boot loader.

I have tried the new IATKOS s3 but has no mouse/keyboard support for me in the back as far as I know. I have tried chamelon bootloader yes, i installed PCEFI_v9 and 10 also.

EDIT: Verbose mode is taking a while but my keyboard and mouse are recognized in the front USB ports; not the back.I Iam using the iATKOS S3 v2 distro.

EDIT2: I have a Intel ICHx chipset because i use the following kext: IOATAFamily.kext

WoW, I got the installer to work perfectly!

Everything works perfectly except the USB ports in the back, Anybody got a fix for it? This is gonna get annoying fast with only 2 working USB ports in the front which is already taken by my mouse/keyboard.
