[help] No sound with Realtek HD Audio / Intel 900 GMA Chipset

Hi everyone,

 

I just dual booted XP and OS X 10.4.6 (installed OS X natively) with my FS640/W laptop.

When I booted OS X after installation for the first time, sound worked, I'm not sure about 'input', but speakers from the laptop were definately playing my music. After I installed some drivers for wireless and 900GMA QE / CI support, I rebooted several times in the process, but then I noticed the loss sound . my vendor ID for the sound card is 0x10EC0260 (ven 10ec /dev 0260).

 

Any ideas?

This was solved by:

 

use pacifist ->

Reinstall AppleAC97Audio , IOAudioFamily, AppleAzaliaAudio, (maybe AppleHDA??) kexts through pacifist and MAC OS X DVD

(should be in 10.4.6 SSE2 package or Essential package)

 

*reboot*

 

if error message given from kext's

 

go to prompt (F8)

 

type:

-s

/sbin/mount -uw /

chown -R root:wheel /path/file to all kext

chmod -R 755 /path/file to all kext

reboot

i reinstalled the kext's with pacifist, but i don't understand what you mean with:

 

chown -R root:wheel /path/file to all kext

chmod -R 755 /path/file to all kext

 

What path's do you mean?

 

chown -R root:wheel /system/library/extensions ??
