Failed to verify xxx.pkg

Hi.

It's my first attempt at iHacking a PC. I've got a Gigabyte G41M ES2L with an Intel Core Duo 3GHz. Currently only 2GB RAM installed (with another 2GB waiting to go). There's an nVidia 9800GT in the box as well.

I've so far tried two methods:

1) The LifeHacker method which involves putting Chameleon and Snow Leopard onto a USB stick.

2) The myHack method which is similar.

In both methods, my desktop boots into the Snow Leopard installation process. Then around 30% - 40% it fails with:

- "Failed to verify MediaFiles.pkg" or similar message.

Can someone tell me what is causing this error?

Is it not reading the files correctly from the disk?

I'm still learning about kexts and DSDT etc. but thought this error might not be related to any .kext issues.

Many thanks for your help.

  • 2 weeks later...

Managed to get a bit further now. I'm not sure if this was the main problem but one of my RAM sticks was faulty. So I sent them back and got 2 new ones. During installation I selected "Customise" and deselected all additional options.

This got me right through the install. I'm now faced with a new problem. My IDE drive is not always detected by my machine but tbh it is really old and is probably faulty anyway. I'll try a different drive and see what happens.
