im92037
I inherited an MSI Wind Netbook U100 that a colleague had taken and installed OS X on it. Now I need to restore Windows XP Home on it, and am looking for a tutorial. Can someone provide an outline of what needs to be done? I guess I need to find out what kind of a bootloader I have first? How do I do that? Thanks.
J.B
...seriously?! if you are getting rid of the OS, all you have to do is erase the hard drive and install windows on it...it really could not be any simpler boot into a gparted in any way you like and format the HFS+ partition that OSX would be installed on, then boot into the windows installer and install it (note: you could probably format the HFS in the XP installer as well, but i don't know if the installer will see the HDD)
im92037
boot into a gparted in any way you like What is 'gparted' and how do I boot into it? Right now it just boots straight into OSX. There is nothing in the boot sequence that lets me choose something else. ... and format the HFS+ partition that OSX would be installed on, then boot into the windows installer and install it I'm confused. Sorry & thanks.
J.B
gparted, is a linux liveCD that when booted into will let you edit HDD configs. google it and burn it to a disc, then boot to it and format the HFS+ partition (OSX is installed on it) to NTFS then boot into the XP installer and install finished
KonstantinosNks
just boot your Windows XP CD (or usb) and format whole hd! That is all! no gParted needed! if your netbook doesn't have cd reader search to google for "windows xp installation from usb"! when a blue and white screen with your hard disk partitions appears in windows installation select all unknown-unsupported partitions and press delete ('d' key on keyboard) while appears one unllocated space, then press enter and you are ok!
