Hi all! I tried to test OSX on my pc. It does not work, but i installed the server edition in a Virtualbox VM. I tried OSX for a while and i realized i like it! :D

So, I want to buy a real Mac, and I'd like to hear your suggestions.

I will use that Mac for the following activities:

1- Browse the World Wide Web;

2- Photoshop image post-processing;

I'm looking for a iMac 20". Is this a wise choice? I'd prefer a less-expensive configuration!

Thanks for any answer! ;)

Hi, sorry the Hackintoshing didn´t work out, with a GA-P35-DS4 Moatherboard and a NVIDIA Graphics card its absolutly easy to do:

Snow Leopard Vanilla Retail Guide for GA-P35-DS4 and other related boards

But if you want to buy a cheap Mac you could check ebay for a used one. But I would extremly recommend to buy one with an Intel-Processor and NOT a G4 / G5 because new Software like OSX Snow Leopard won´t work.

If you do so you have all kinds of Mac flavours like Notebooks, Mini Mac, and iMac.

I personaly had a Mac Mini G4 and when the new Mac´s came up but no Mac Mini with Core Duo I changed to the GA_P35_DS4 solution.

I also have a Dell Mini 1011 aka Dell Mini 10v as a ultra portabel solution.

How To: Hackintosh a Dell Mini 10v Into the Ultimate Snow Leopard Netbook

But I admid I don´t have much money, if I had I might go for a Mac Pro Notebook and have a keyboard and a 30" monitor attached to it when I am at home.

The mother of my girlfrend had some money to spend to save taxes and my girlfrend took her to an Apple store (my influence), she fall instantly in love with an huge iMac. Beautiful thing. I had it for a week. Real peace of art.

In the eighties the first Apple Mac from 1984 was challenged by the Atari ST - a cheap but excellent clone.

The Atari Slogan was "The Power Without the Price".

Tramiel - the Atari boss - said "Apple builds computer for the classes - we build computer for the masses".

the mac mini's are real nice and upgradable to a degree. the 2009 models are quick but heard the 2010 are really fast.

Another option is Apple's refurbished Macs.

21.5 iMac Core i3

I was looking at PowerMax and in my opinion a new or refurbished one from apple is only a 100.00 to 200.00 more, if you compare to similar new ones.

I would save up for a new 21.5" iMac, I think that would be fine for Photoshop stuff, even light video editing too.

Good Luck.
