Your dream setup

Ok, so a little fun game for us all: If money was not an issue, what would be your dream hackintosh setup? requirements would have to be 100% compatibility and stability, and also it will have to run fairly quiet - not dead silent, but reasonable.

So, what would you choose as your Mobo, CPU, GPU, Case, RAM, SSD/HD and even the display?

Well, if money is no issue lets face it, I'd get the 12-core MacPro that's coming out this month. But if I could have my dream Hackintosh, it'd be:

Motherboard: SUPERMICRO MBD-X8DAL-i-O Dual LGA 1366 $289 (According to the 10.6.2 HCL wiki, everything works with this board)

CPU: Intel Xeon X5680 Westmere 3.33GHz 6-Core (x2) $3,446.30

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 24GB (6 x 4GB) $749.99

GPU: GTX 285 1GB $299.99

Hard drives: Kingston 512GB SSD (x4) $5,756.00

Optical: Pioneer Black 12X BD Burner (x2) $379.98

PSU: SILVERSTONE ST1500 1500W $399.99 (Assuming my electric bill is also part of 'money is no object')

Case: LIAN LI PC-X2000F $499.99

Case fans: AcoustiFan Ultra Quiet Computer 120mm (x2) $71.90

Monitors: NEC LCD3090WQXi-BK Black 30" (x2) $4,399.98

OSX: APPLE Mac Box Set with Snow Leopard - Family Pack $149.99

Windows: 7 Ultimate Full $272.48

Grand total before shipping: $16,696.58

I'm gonna get right on buying this.... right after I win the lottery.

Zaap, is the Geforce GTX 285 better than the new GTX 400 series that is now available? It's hard to understand from NVidia's website.

Or maybe just get a new ATI 5870 HD 2GB GPU (Supports 6 monitors!!!) which should match what Apple is offering with the new mac pros?

Nice setup, thanks :(

I think it is. There's already a long thread about it. I'll let you seek it. :)

For my dream setup, it would come in a Japanese chassis you've probably never heard of:

the Abee AS Enclosure 900, 15kg of aluminum (the double in pounds). As a Japanese Lian-Like, Abee sells a lot of accessories, but only in Japan. Import and customs would be insanely expensive, I guess, considering the case itself already costs 45 000 yens, and VAT is 19,6% in France.

PSU: Seasonic X-Series 650W 80+ Gold.

MB: Gigabyte X58A-UD5

CPU: Intel 980X

Cooler: Brand new Thermalright HR02

Memory: Kington HyperX 3x4GB 2000 MHz kit

SSD: Crucial C300 256GB (though I just asked for a refund after my 24 h old 64GB unexpected death)

HDD: Caviar Green 2TB (loads of them)

Optical: Blu-ray burner

GFX: 1 Gigabyte GTX480 + not yet released CoolIT's Omni ALC watercooling setup. Just one, yes. It's my green compliant limit.

Display? A LED TV. A 40" Sony, I guess.

I'd ask Santa for a 300$ Logitech G27 wheel with a nice 500$ Playseat.

I would give a try to Zaap's 35$ fans. Their dustproof feature looks pretty cool and I got better things to do with a teethbrush.

It's not so expensive, but I would appreciate an HTPC in an Origen AE Case, as well. Something 100% inaudible.
