I had a working 10.6.2 installation following DigitalDreamer's guide.

I ran into panics, and then decided to reinstall the EFI partition using my friend's MacBook Pro. Building the cache fails because the kexts don't have the correct owner/permissions. The problem is that I can't even do this in the Terminal on his macbook.

I already did sudo -s.

Anyone have any idea as to why I can't make this root:wheel as sudo -s?

No, but you don't have to worry about permissions in this case. Chameleon doesn't care what the permissions are on anything in /Extra or any of its subfolders.

Tip: You can use cVad's Kext Utility to build an Extensions.mkext - just drag the extensions folder onto the kext utility icon.
