flozzaa
Hi, Another noob here who has been trying for days and is about to give up. I've tried iAtkos v7 and S3 V2, and Kalyway 10.5.2. But I haven't been able to install any of them. Specs: CPU: Intel Pentium 4 MOBO: Asus P5G41-M CHIPSET: Intel Eaglelake G41 RAM: 1GB Samsung M3 x 2 VIDEO: Intel GMA X4500 I have seen a post where someone with very similar specs managed to get OSx86 working. With iAtkos I get: ACPI: System State [S0 S3 S4 S5] (S3) Kalyway gets stuck at: Extension "com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.aple.kpi components; use only one style. I've tried many different flags inlcluding -x, -v, -f, cpus=1, cpus=2, busratio=16, etc. I don't have any options in my BIOS to change my hard drive to AHCI. I've tried disabling ACPI in the BIOS but that didn't help. Are there any solutions for me or should I just give up now? Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place by the way. Thanks in advance, Flozzaa x
Gringo Vermelho
Try disabling Hyperthreading in the BIOS (if your P4 is HT capable of course, I think most (all?) 5xx and 6xx P4s are). If that doesn't help, then try doing a CMOS reset. If you don't know what that is, look it up in your motherboard manual.

Gringo Vermelho
For older distros from before the Voodoo Kernel 9.5.0 (such as Kalyway) make sure you pick disabler.kext. For all distros, make sure you select a decrypter, such as DSMOS or AppleDecrypt.kext. Don't select anything in the video drivers section (you can fix it post install) Search the forums, see if there are known problems with the GMA X4500 on-board video. Try with a real video card instead of the on-board. Don't mix USB and PS2 keyboard/mouse devices, use one type or the other, USB is preferred. Enable ACPI 2.0, ACPI APIC, and set standby mode to S3. If S3 is not available, set it to Auto. Set SATA to AHCI mode. If there's no AHCI mode, set it to "Enhanced" or "Native" mode. Enable all advanced CPU settings except CPU ID Limit. Disable motherboard devices you're not using such as the floppy controller, game/MIDI, PS2, serial and parallel ports. Try the JaS 10.5.4 Client/Server or iPC 10.5.6 final distros.
