Spectram
Okay so, I thought I read a guide correctly.. Apparently I didn't. On my HP G61:(Sorry if this is too much information.. Just trying to give as much as possible) odel Brand HP Model G61-320US Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU Type AMD Athlon II Dual-Core M300 2.0G Memory Size 3GB DDR2 Hard Disk 250GB Optical Drive DVD Super Multi Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4200 Communication Modem, LAN and WLAN Dimensions 14.88" x 9.90" x 1.38-1.72" CPU Type AMD Athlon II Dual-Core CPU Speed M300(2.0GHz) CPU L2 Cache 1MB Graphics GPU/VPU ATI Radeon HD 4200 Graphic Type Integrated Card Hard Drive HDD 250GB HDD RPM 5400rpm Memory 3GB Memory Type 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM Memory Slot (Total) 2 Memory Slot (Available) 0 Optical Drive Optical Drive Type DVD Super Multi Optical Drive Interface Integrated Optical Drive Spec LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support Audio Integrated Sound card Speaker Altec Lansing speakers Input Device Touchpad Touch Pad with On/Off button and dedicated vertical scroll Up/Down pad Keyboard 101-key compatible with full size keyboard with integrated numeric keypad Webcam Yes Power AC Adapter 65-watt AC adapter Battery 6-cell lithium ion MY POST To create my partition I used windows 7 home, I gave my OSX partition 50gb. I found a patched iDeneb_v1.5.1_OSX86_v10.5.7 that was for the AMD. I rebooted, it did a few loading screens then it errored. I reburned it and it was fine.. so I don't think that matters.. But I want to give all the information possible. So I installed it.. Just hitting next, next etc..(I read what I was hitting next to) now when I load iDeneb it freezes at the Apple Splash screen(If this is the improper term I'm sorry I'll be using it again.. Just the grey background with the Apple logo) I left it there for about 25 minutes and when I came back it was still frozen there. I was just like Ugh, forget this for now I don't feel well.. So I was just gonna boot back in to Windows 7.. However when I got to the Windows 7 loading screen it BSOD'd and restarted..(Maybe this is because I improperly created the OSX partition?). Well I was gonna reinstall iDeneb but now when I use the installation DVD my laptop freezes up at start up. I just figured I had to start fresh so I popped in an old Windows XP cd I had.. so I for format all the drives. They didn't even show up... And when I tried to use the Windows 7 RC DVD(It's the only one I had laying around... haha) it completely froze.. But that could have been because the disc was pretty scuffed up. The only thing I can think of is to use Knoppix so I have access to format the drives.. Any help? oldtopman
Wow. First off, there is no such thing as too much information. If everyone made posts like these, these questions would be easier to answer. Check your BIOS as is sounds like everything was messed up. It soundsto me like the MBR got messed up as well. Try the GParted LiveCD and in the menubar in the program, select create new partiton table. (By the way.. Sorry for all the grammar/spelling errors in the OP. I was tired, worried about my laptop.) oldtopman
I don't know what BIOS settings to look for, but if nothing will boot then the BIOS is your problem. Try the "Optimized Defaults" if the LiveUSB doesn't boot. I believe that the window$ installer is encountering a corrupt MBR and crashing. I have no idea why the OSx86 installer won't boot, esp. when it booted before.
