aspin
Should we wait for official drivers from Apple now that some of the cards will be included in new Apple machine? .. Or will in not make any difference? I have the 5750. It seems people have gotten it to work with few modifications, but how long will it take for official drivers to be out now that it's been announced? TheGoog
10.6.5 seeds soon, so beta drivers will have a good chance of being in there. Otherwise, fully baked drivers will have to wait for the full 10.6.5 update or an install disc for the new Mac Pro to leak. aspin
Since the iMac is shipping with the 5750 as well, and it is available as of today, wouldn't that indicate the drivers are already out somewhere? Meaning, they can't ship the iMac without drivers, so shouldn't the drivers be available for download somewhere? Meaning, they can't ship the iMac without drivers, so shouldn't the drivers be available for download somewhere? In iMac's situation, there'll likely be a new OSX install disc holding those drivers, like there will be with the Mac Pro on it's launch, and like the new Mac Mini, where the current 5xxx early beta drivers were found. So could be a week that we have em, or a month. Just depends on how generous the early adopters are. Driver updates are most commonly found in OSX service packs (ie. 10.6.3, 10.6.4, etc). I can't imagine them releasing driver updates seperately since they'll have to pack them in with the devices install CD's anyways. aspin
Ah, so Apple does not release the drivers separately they only do so with system updates? In that case I guess it is probably best to wait for the new 10.6.5 update to roll out. I am confused about one thing though.. If 10.6.5 is in beta, and the drivers are not in 10.6.4, and the iMac is ready to ship as of today -- then what version of Mac OS is it shipping with? Spanky Deluxe
Here are the iMac ATI drivers: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZGWBGAJ8 I extracted them from the 10.6.4 update for the new iMac that Apple posted. Might save you downloading the full file and extracting them yourself. Permissions are probably messed up on them though so make sure to fix those before giving them a try. I don't know if there's anything different in them Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/226693-wait-for-official-drivers/#findComment-1520026 Share on other sites
