vitamin32
Hi, I want to dual boot OSX and Win7. As I have an upgrade copy of Win7 it requires that XP is installed prior to allowing the upgrade to Win7. So, I have only been able to either: install OSX (which uses GPT?) and so therefore I cannot install XP, as XP can only use GPT as a data partition and not as a system drive. or install XP and upgrade to Win7 and then when I attempt to install OSX it complains that the drive is not GUID / GPT compatible and needs to format the drive to this format to begin installation. any advice as to how to get both on? many thanks! oldtopman
The OSX partitioner (disk utility) needs GPT. All you need to install OSx86 is a hfs+ partition. My reccomendation is to upgrade to win7 and use the GParted Live CD to make an HFS+ partition. Once you're in the installer, open Disk Utilities and do one pass of 0's. Install to that partition.
