akira Takahashi
Hey guys, I'm totally new to this forum. Sorry if this is the wrong area, however I successfully followed blackosx's tutorial - http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=180954 - and everything is working perfectly... So thankyou very much to him and all other contributors for compiling such a professional tutorial. The only strange thing I am experiencing is all my internal drives apart from the OS drive are showing as removable media in System Profiler, and in Finder they have eject buttons next to them and its possible to unmount them. I was wondering what I can do to resolve this minor issue as apart from this flaw the system is perfect. My system specs are as follows: Gigabyte GA-ep45-ds3l bios revision f11b 2 x 2gb g skill pi 1066 DDR2 q9650 @ 3ghz Nvidia 7800GTX 256mb 1 x western digital 320gb sata hdd (Chameleon and OSX partitions) 2 x seagate 500gb sata hdd's (NTFS windows and storage) Like i said it's so close to perfection it's a shame to have such a minor little bug. I've searched around the forums and I have just found myself in a confused state lol. I have applied the 'Orange Icons' kext also as per the tutorial. My System Profiler details for the ICH10 Sata Tree are as follows: Intel ICH10 AHCI: Vendor: Intel Product: ICH10 AHCI Link Speed: 3 Gigabit Negotiated Link Speed: 3 Gigabit Description: AHCI Version 1.20 Supported WDC WD3200AAJS-65VWA0: Capacity: 320.07 GB (320,072,933,376 bytes) Model: WDC WD3200AAJS-65VWA0 Revision: 12.01B02 Serial Number: WD-WCARW1681641 Native Command Queuing: Yes Queue Depth: 32 Removable Media: Yes Detachable Drive: No BSD Name: disk1 Medium Type: Rotational Partition Map Type: GPT (GUID Partition Table) S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified Volumes: Cham: Capacity: 939.5 MB (939,524,096 bytes) Available: 907.7 MB (907,689,984 bytes) Writable: Yes File System: Journaled HFS+ BSD Name: disk1s2 Mount Point: /Volumes/Cham Snow Leopard: Capacity: 318.79 GB (318,789,435,392 bytes) Available: 297.17 GB (297,166,331,904 bytes) Writable: Yes File System: Journaled HFS+ BSD Name: disk1s3 Mount Point: / Intel ICH10 AHCI: Vendor: Intel Product: ICH10 AHCI Link Speed: 3 Gigabit Negotiated Link Speed: 3 Gigabit Description: AHCI Version 1.20 Supported ST3500418AS: Capacity: 500.11 GB (500,106,780,160 bytes) Model: ST3500418AS Revision: CC34 Serial Number: 6VM0LPCG Native Command Queuing: Yes Queue Depth: 32 Removable Media: Yes Detachable Drive: No BSD Name: disk2 Rotational Rate: 7200 Medium Type: Rotational Partition Map Type: MBR (Master Boot Record) S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified Volumes: sys_xp: Capacity: 395.24 GB (395,241,122,304 bytes) Available: 142.75 GB (142,747,545,600 bytes) Writable: No File System: NTFS BSD Name: disk2s1 Mount Point: /Volumes/sys_xp sys_win7: Capacity: 104.86 GB (104,864,062,464 bytes) Available: 104.79 GB (104,793,227,264 bytes) Writable: No File System: NTFS BSD Name: disk2s5 Mount Point: /Volumes/sys_win7 Intel ICH10 AHCI: Vendor: Intel Product: ICH10 AHCI Link Speed: 3 Gigabit Negotiated Link Speed: 3 Gigabit Description: AHCI Version 1.20 Supported ST3500418AS: Capacity: 500.1 GB (500,103,634,432 bytes) Model: ST3500418AS Revision: CC35 Serial Number: 5VM2EKX5 Native Command Queuing: Yes Queue Depth: 32 Removable Media: Yes Detachable Drive: No BSD Name: disk0 Rotational Rate: 7200 Medium Type: Rotational Partition Map Type: MBR (Master Boot Record) S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified Volumes: data: Capacity: 500.1 GB (500,103,397,376 bytes) Available: 2.04 GB (2,035,666,944 bytes) Writable: No File System: NTFS BSD Name: disk0s1 Mount Point: /Volumes/data As you can see it's showing the drives as Removable Media.. I'm sure it's an easy fix I just don't know where to start.. :/ Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers, - Sam Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/226277-internal-drives-showing-as-removable-media-yes/ Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
Correct, the OrangeIconFix kext only changes the colour of the icons, not the status of the drives. Try using the AHCI kexts that come with Chameleon instead. There's also a DSDT fix somewhere in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=168014 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/226277-internal-drives-showing-as-removable-media-yes/#findComment-1517780 Share on other sites
akira Takahashi
Hey again Thanks for the reply! I think i solved it.. sort of.. i used IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext and AHCIPortInjector.kext and now they don't show the eject buttons and System Profiler shows them as "Removable Media = No". However, if i right click on the drives tho i can still manually eject them.. (???) I don't remember being able to do this on my previous osx86 installation (10.5.6) .... it's not meant to be like that hey?
