Yey! I finally got a Hackintosh!

I am so happy.

Everything runs great, sound, network, eveything.

Only issue I am having is when I try to play streaming video (Such as Megavideo streams) the playback is VERY choppy. It's not my hardware per se because if I boot into Win 7 (Ugh, takes AGES) then it plays without a problem. Sound comes through fine, but the video is really bad. Anyone any suggestions?

You, seem so excited you made it this far...GREAT.

You, need to list your hardware and as much detail about what you have for someone to help?

I can say that you can run into glitches depending on the hardware. Like some blueray movies don't work on my friends HD4670 and most-likely never will. All els works DVD and so on. So even if someone says its working they should say if its fully working. This is an argument I get into from people taking short cuts then later finding that AVID or something is missing functionality wise because no care was taken in choosing parts that completely work.

Blueray works on my HD4850 flawlessly or .mkv files as well.

So, my point is instead of having a crippled Hackintosh. Research if you have the really compatible parts one by one. Sound, video, bluetooth, wireless, and so on.

Good look and enjoy,

Hangten

Sure here is my Hardware

CPU TYPE: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS A8N-e

RAM: 1536 Mb

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 9600GT (1024MB)

Sound & Ethernet are onboard the Motherboard

Serial ATA Device: SAMSUNG SP2504C, 232.89 GB

Parallel ATA Device: Maxtor 6Y080L0, 76.34 GB

Parallel ATA Device: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B, 7.37 GB

USB Device: Wireless Keyboard & Mouse

USB Device: Dell Smart Card Reader Keyboard

I don't have wireless/bluetooth etc.

Do you need any more info?

Also when I try to run Second Life I get -> ERROR - Can't Make GL Context

Also CS4 won't run, it just crashes (although it did say I should have 2GB RAM so that may be the problem with that - I need to pop and get some more I think).

Still despite these issues I am really enjoying my Hack, it's SOOOO much faster than windows.

I am not 100% sure I set it all up right, I am using the HAZARD Distro, anyone able to give me a list of what kexts etc I should have instaled and what I shouldn't, I'd be most greatful (Sorry I am a complete newbie to OSX in general, just played on my friends iMac and fell in love, but can't afford one yet).

Thanks everyone!

Quick update Re CS4:

Some applications actually are working:

Acrobat, After Effects, Bridge, Contribute, Device Central, Dreamweaver, Drive, Fireworks, Flash, In Design & On Location.

The following aren't working and crash out:

Encore, Illustrator, Premier & Sound Booth.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Do you have full qe/ci enabled? you say you have 9600gt. with that you shouldn't have that problem.

Hello Soggy Bang,

Have you tried different extensions and options to enable your graphics card within Snow Leopard? I also had the choppy video problem, but I used the extension named Nvenabler.kext.

You could try that out, But now In my com.apple.boot.plist I use <key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>y</string> and it works fine at enabling the card.

Let me know how it goes, feel free to Pm me,

-James
