zeeduckieez
When I boot from the DVD I get to the point that it loads at the grey screen with the apple, and there is a circle with a line through it near the tip of the logo. Is there something wrong? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22553-when-bootiing-from-dvd/ Share on other sites

Rammjet
How could I figure whats master/slave without opening the case? How can you switch them without opening the case? If you were to boot in verbose mode, the error would be "waiting for root device". Waiting root device means that the system is being confused about where the boot drive is. If you have extra external drives plugged in, unplug them. If you have a flash drive plugged in, unplug it. Make the drive system as simple as possible - only the target hard drive and the source DVD drive. Disconnect all others. SATA can also be a problem. And as stated, try switching your drives. You have to change something to get passed this problem. While you're at it, tell us about your system so we can see if there is some other problem. Rammjet
Some people install OSX into VMWare and then copy it over to the hard drive. Some people take the drive out and install it into another machine and load OSX and then reinstall it.
