djricksk
Hey guys, I have been reading through these forums like a man on a mission... I have compiled a build list which is attached... I have used various sources and generated a machine spec which I think would be ideal for my needs... I will use it for work and pleasure... working being a designer so 3D modelling and rendering etc. Could you guys advise me if this list is the way to go... Would appriciate the help... P.S I have an old Thermaltake Xaser III case so I intend to use that. Thanks guys !
neil43
The problem here is that the i7 920 does not go into the EP45 mother board. Look at the X58 mother boards for this CPU. neil
djricksk
Oh right... sorry my mistake. This is one is widley used amongst the community right? Mackilroy
That particular motherboard isn't the most-used one, but it will work fine for you.
djricksk
Cheers guys really appreciate the help... feel like a n00b! Im really pulling my hair out... So many different specs... What I am looking for is a decent spec machine... Around the $1000 dollar budget which equate to about £700 UK. Something that will kick a little ass when it comes to design models and renders... To be honest I am stuck on the motherboard, graphics card and processor... to which will best suite my needs... I guess I've gone for a pricey option but if there is a slightly cheaper alternative spec then I would really appriciate the spec adivice... Mackilroy
I'd go with the X58A-UD3R, i7-930, and a 9800 GT if you don't game. If that ends up being too much, a P55M-UD4P with an i7-860 and a 9800 GT should be nearly as good, though you're stuck with dual instead of triple-channel RAM on the LGA 1156 platform. Also, this and this may interest you.

MB: Gigabyte GA P55M-UD4 GPU: Gigabyte 9800GT Silent CPU: Intel i7 860 2.8ghz RAM: OCZ ocz361600 4GB Dual Channel (2x2gb) HD: 1TB WD Carviar Green SATA DVD: Sony AD 7260s 24x SATA CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 2 (Is this necessary even if im not looking to Overclock just yet. Wont the Intel one do?) PSU: Antec 550W BP (Suffiecient enough... taken from budget one as im using the same GPU from that list?) SL OSX Thermaltake Xaser Case III (Hand me down) I think this sounds quite a good system for what I need... Let me know what you think guys! Works out to around £712 which is $1099 bang on the budget two price on tonymacx86

Mackilroy
550W will be more than enough, the system in my signature has a 500W PSU. Looks like a nice system.
