Even if it were, installing a DVD on a USB 1.1 port would take days... best to get a firewire cable. Try this, borrow a newer Mac that has a DVD drive in it. Put it in Target Disk Mode (Hold T at startup), and hook it up to your iMac with a Firewire cable. Then hold option on the iMac as it starts up and chose the DVD Drive in the newer Mac as your DVD drive to install from.
