Tiger boot by USB

Hi

I' got an iMac G3 without a dvd player and want to install the real Tiger, can I boot by an externel dvd player linked by USB?

if no, there is another methode? (I don't have a firewire cable)

No, on those systems USB was not a boot option. Even if it were, installing a DVD on a USB 1.1 port would take days... best to get a firewire cable.

 

Try this, borrow a newer Mac that has a DVD drive in it. Put it in Target Disk Mode (Hold T at startup), and hook it up to your iMac with a Firewire cable. Then hold option on the iMac as it starts up and chose the DVD Drive in the newer Mac as your DVD drive to install from.

thinks, I have the firewire cable, and know very well the mod target methode, but it's so dificult for me to find a mac user (all my friends use windows).

please, would you like to tell me how can I find the cd version tiger? is there a link to download it?
