Trying to install iAtkos v7 10.5.7 on a Dell D630.

BIOS is updated to A17

Selected AHCI and set to Multicore enabled.

Keep getting the IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23 freeze error upon DVD Boot to re-install. That's right. I did it once with the same settings and by some miracle of God managed to boot installer pass the IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23 freeze error.

A very random situation where BIOS has not changed. Currently my HDD has 10.5.7 installed succesfully, but gets stuck at Black Boot screen as I have selected what I can only think of as incorrect graphics drivers. I chose GM950, i think i need x3100.

Is there anyway to install these now from Cham 2 bootloader? Or should I keep attempting the fresh install as IT DOES work - this is whats bugging me. No BIOS settings have been changed and im getting the IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23 error.

Does anyone have a solid resolution for this? I have tried all the flags such as -v, -s, mach_970, cpus=2, cpus=1 etc etc nothing works!

Any help in getting pass the black screen or IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23 freeze error is welcomed.

Ok so I got it to boot in again using the following flag

-v -x

very random, bios is the same as was previously.

lets hope the correct options were selected and the graphics show up on first boot.

Still no luck.

after attempting numerous restarts of the d630, it appears to be very random on booting. Sometimes it'll go in and start to install but mostly the dreaded IOAPIC freeze error.

I have tried install disks, 10.5.6 Beta, 10.5.6 Universal, 10.5.7 v7 iAtkos & 10.5.8 iDeneb. All of which happen to have the same error.

Once I do manage to get a successful boot, I can actually install fine, however on initial boot after install, it reboots, I eject the DVD, its shows Cham 2 Bootloader, choose the Mac OSx HDD and then it begins to load then but then I get the black screen. I can hear the music in the background - however no idea what's going !

Anyone with any info that might be able to help?

OK, Something at last - I got most of the shizzle working. f**k you all that didn't help me.

Firstly start by installing 10.5.7 iAtkos on the D630 choosing the following options as extra, leave everything else as it is:

SMBIOS EFi AIR

SATA ACHI and the one below it

PS2 Voodoo

BroadCom Ethernet 5751

will update rest later when i have install dvd infront of me cnt rem off the top of my head

Once installed before you boot in to the system for the first time, when u get to the "Hit F8 " screen hit F8: and type:

-s

When u get to "root:" type the following:

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw /

mkdr /GFXBackup

mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMAX3100* /GFXBackup

exit

You will now boot in to a very low res apple desktop, from here download the file "d4vinder Display Package D630 Dell.zip" attached here.

Extract the files then use Kext Helper to install the files back to the /System/Library/Extensions folder (We moved above with all the /sbin/... mv /System/Libar.... blah blah commands so we could login with low resolution) The kext files are currently sitting in GFXBackup.

Once you have installed the files back to the /System/Library/Extensions folder and the script has run successfully you will install the other package contained within "d4vinder Display Package D630 Dell.zip" IntelGMAX3100 Combo Drivers. when this is done, just reboot.

When u have rebooted, you will get the dreaded BLACK screen again - but dnt worry at this point simply press the power button once, then "S" - this will put the laptop to sleep, press power to wake up again - and HEY PRESTO everything works... apart from wifi.

QE/CI is working too. Yeah BYATCH! Lets go burn some cheese now :-)

Once again I would NOT like to thanks all those members who have their systems working - but didnt once reply to my posts!

Little help please,

when I type in "mkdr /GFXBackup" I get a command not found message. What gives?

Thanks

Hi i cannot rem all commands exactly... try googling mkdir or mkdr for apple. All it does is create a directory to allow u to copy original kext to a safe location. Hope it helps.

Hey bro, thanks for your guide and your help.

What worked for me was to type in 'mkdir' in that 3rd step. (That command creates a folder)

I should of figured that out before asking, but anyways-

So your steps indeed have worked for me, I'm thrilled to finally have full video on my lcd. THANKS!

But, this fix seems incomplete because it requires us to put the laptop to sleep and wake up every time we restart to get video on the lcd.

Have you figured out any steps to take to get the built in lcd recognized as the default display without having to use the sleep trick?

For the record,

I'm running iAtkos s3 v2 on a Dell D630 with Intel video.

Cool dude!

Unfortunately the answer to your question is a NO! It really pisses me off too! although its such a minor issue - I was hoping though to get a fully working Mac!

The only other thing I have done is changed the wifi card now that works great too!

Found this tip, which is much easier than activating sleep to get the screen on.

Go into system preference, open up expose and spaces, then set one of your corners to sleep display.

Once you reboot your screen will go completely black, now blindly trace your mouse over to whichever corner you chose for the sleep corner, and then move it back to the middle to wake the monitor.
