bliss
Hi! I'm looking for a very fast SATA 300 Harddisc. It don't have to be very big. 40 GB would be mutch enough. I'd thought about an WD Raptor, but they're only SATA 150 aren't they? The HD's size should be 3,5" would be great if its also very quiet. So, any tips from you guys? I want to use it only for Mac OS, Windows and maybe linux, cause now i have a 300 GB and the Operating Systems and my files are on it and that sucks thanks, bliss Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22438-im-looking-for-a-very-fast-sata-300-harddisc/ Share on other sites
c-prompt
Um, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but even if the WD raptor's are SATA150, the fact that they are 10000rpm make them faster than any other SATA drives on the market (we're talking consumer-level here). I remember reading that the bandwidth of a SATA150 drive is never really maximized, let alone SATA300. oiasdas
Yea, SATA 300 will never really be utilized on discs the way they are constructed now. You could only come close to utilizing a small amount of the bandwidth in a raid 0 setup with 10000 - 15000 rpm drives.
