solaar
Hi there, For some reason I can't find the thread that described the problems you can run into when you install OSX natively on a dedicated HD from an install DVD. Perhaps my memory needs an upgrade... I was trying to install the Jas 10.4.6 on fully compatible hardware and a 80GB Seagate IDE HD -- NO dual-boot, just OSX. I formatted the whole drive straight with Apple's disk utility during install. Install went smoothly but when I tried to boot for the first time the mobo speaker went bonkers and the screen stayed black. I remember having read somewhere that you can't boot from the OSX formatted HD as is. That there's an issue with the BIOS and OSX expecting EFI ???!!! :?: any hint appreciated cheers sol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22392-native-1046-install-on-dedicated-ide-hd-osx-only/ Share on other sites
