Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me here as I need some help (yes I know I need help) *grin*

anyway, I had installed Windows Vista Beta 2 and played around with it and after much tooing and frowing decided YUCK!

I went to reinstall Mac OS X 10.4.4 (x86) only to discover my boot DVD will no longer be recognised

has anyone else had this happen to them or am I the only one?

Thank you for any assisstance.

Cal.

What exactly happens when you pop in the DVD? Does it try booting from it but gets stuck or does it go straight to the HD to look for a boot sector?

I would try another bootable DVD (perhaps a Linux distro). If that boots up ok it's likely that your OSX DVD is dirty or possibly knackered. You could always try to make a backup with a DVD recovery app (something like ISO buster).

I had this problem with a Mandriva DVD which refused to boot after a dozen of times or so. I was somehow able to burn a functioning copy in K3b but that seemed like pot luck.

good luck

sol
