1233666666
Hey All, Yes, I'm a n00b to OSx86. So far I've got 10.4.7 running fine on my system (see signature) I have an ATi Powercolor x800GTO (It's an R430 core, AFAIK). CI/QE not supported out of the box. Display: Type: VGA-Compatible Controller Bus: PCI Slot: PCIEX4_1 VRAM (Total): 128 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x5d4f Revision ID: 0x0000 Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded Displays: Display: Resolution: 1152 x 864 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Not Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported I forced a resolution using apple.com.Boot.plist. I have 256MB of VRAM (Despite what OS X thinks) So far I've tried Koverg's patch which made my OS X un-bootable. What else can I try to get CI/QE enabled? Please PM links to patches/software if it's against rules to post about it. Thanks. belgrano
To enable QE and CI, all you have to do is to add your device ID to the Info.plist in ATIRadeon9700.kext. As for correct recognition of your VRAM and for switching resolution/refresh rate try Callisto. 1233666666
Hey, I just did that and now OS X refuses to boot. I went into single user mode and edited out my change but it still refuses. Re-installing now, I'll try it on 10.4.6 instead of 10.4.7 EDIT - It still refuses to boot if I edit it. I added '0x5D4F1002' to it. 1233666666
BTW, I just tried this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=21182 Callisto works fine, I can change resolution using the display preference pane, but as soon as I try to get QE/CI OS X won't boot (It hangs where it always does, Login Window) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22382-ati-drivers/#findComment-148528 Share on other sites

Man, you and I are having the same problem, but when I had this same card (now I own a Powercolor x800GT that is not working - one I had before worked perfectly doing the same thing I will mention) I managed to get it working by editing it´s firmware IDs (VENDOR, SUBVENDOR) with RAbit (www.techpowerup.com) to became like this: DEV ID: 5D4f SUB VENDOR: 6160 VENDOR: 1002 Then flashed with FLASHROM (flashrom -p -f 0 macos.rom) and Koverg worked flawesly. But now, with this new x800 card, I can get Callisto to work and it freezes after the message that login window is loaded (even if mouse cursor appears on the shell screen! I tried to boot it applyng CallistoFB and when the screen "changed" the same happens, it freezes the boot. My older x800 (With Hynix memories - now are samsung) worked. :S Hope this solve your problem! 1233666666
Will that affect my graphics card in Windows? Because I use it for gaming. EDIT - I just did that and did the Koverg patch and I still don't have QE/CI support. asapreta
Have you tried with 10.4.5? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22382-ati-drivers/#findComment-148698 Share on other sites
1233666666
I just tried it with 10.4.5. IT WORKS!! (Well, Koverg's patch works ) But, there's this screen tearing :/ Will I have to put up with that? asapreta
I don´t remember the correct name of the program (mousepose or something like that) corrects this tearing problem. Would you mind sending me you card BIOS for me to try here? My x800GT has the R480 GPU, so I think I can try it! It would also be nice if you can tell me which memories are in your board (Hynix or Samung) and their speed. Which 10.4.5 did you installed, JAS or MYZAR? my e-mail asapreta@gmail.com Thankx! phoenix3200
Unfortunately, yeah, you'll have to put up with the "mouse tearing." You can try fixing it by using a program like MouseLocator or MousePosé, but IMO, the disadvantages of running a program like that outweigh the advantages. Try it for yourself, though. 1233666666
yeah, I decided to stuff 10.4.5 and I put back 10.4.7 on. The tearing was annoying, and the programs bog. I'll wait for a 10.4.7/6 patch. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22382-ati-drivers/#findComment-149923 Share on other sites
asapreta
Hum... Have you tried mouse locator ou mouseposé? There is no hope for this tearing problem. As i said in my last post, would you mind sending me your X800 GTO BIOS for me to try here? Thanks.
