Hey guys, I've been trying a number of different methods to install OSX on my new computer build but I keep hitting road blocks.

Here's my rig first off and then I'll document what I did and what the result was

Asus P6T (not se nor the deluxe) running an i7-930 CPU with 6 gig of ram and a 500gig western digital sata HD. The bios version is 1202 and I'm using the default values except for the following:

1. disabled all cores except one

2. disabled HT

3. Set the sata configuration to achi

The first method I tried was the one documented on LifeHacker When booting up the thumbdrive after following the steps, and selecting the OSX install disc, I get the following errors:

HFS signature not present (it scrolls down a bit) and then a Can't find Mach Kernel

The second approach was the Asus P6T SE Retail Snow Leopard Installation Guide here at insanelymac

After removing the sleepenabler.kext file, I got past the cpu error/kernel panic, but now it seems to sit there in a black screen with the messages ioapic: version 0x20 vectors 88:111

I'll try to snap a couple of pictures and post them here in a little bit but given that I'm working from home, I need the computer to do work.

I have a backed up snowleoprd iso disk which was mine before selling my macbook pro, its version 10.6.0 I also picked up another version at bestbuy which is 10.6.3. Since I don't pirate, I was planning on buying SL anyways. I tried both thinking the newer version might work.

Any help/suggestions/recommendations would be very helpful.

Boot again but in single user mode. Then

cd /system/library/extensions

mv NVDAResman.kext ../

sync

reboot

Now your video should work in VGA mode. Search this site for video card installation.

Your NVDAResman.kext file is in the /System/Library directory in case you need it.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wasn't sure how to get into single user mode from the usb key, so I moved the kext by plugging it into my mac mini.

With that said, I'm getting the same error as before, this time I screen shot the errror
