easyp
Hi guys and gals, I'm new here and new to all this. Before I start, I have googled and also read the sticky in this forum prior to posting, but still no luck. I have a HP Pavillion dv9574ea with specs as found here, with a 8600M GS 256MB Graphics card I have booted using ##### supported and ##### nVidia, however upon loading the Snow Leopard (retail) disc I was faced with a black screen after seeing the initial grey apple logo screen. I tried again, this time using -x to go into and I was able to use my internal monitor at its native 1400x900 resolution to install OSX. Once installed I am able to boot, but am only able to see anything past the grey screen unless I am in safe mode. In safe mode I am able to view everything in 1400x900 resolution, change the resolution and change the colour options. I have tried NVEnabler from #####, NVInstallerV.32, this post in the sticky, all with no luck. On my most recent attempt, after installing NVInstallerV.32 I removed all the NV* kexts in the Extensions folder, and when I rebooted NOT in safe mode, I was able to view in 1024x768 but not able to change resolution. I find it all rather peculiar, how in safe mode my graphics card seems to work but in normal mode it doesnt - sorry if I have missed something or sound inexperienced but I am. Is there any solution to make my graphics work? Thank you in advance for your help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/222627-8600m-gs-black-screen-normal-in-safe-mode/ Share on other sites
