Hi Guys,

Just wanted to share this, I sent my imac in for repair about one week ago, it had 3 dead pixels, yellow tint & flickering issues.

June 13th

I dropped off my iMac at the Apple Store on June 13th. The person told me it would take 48hrs to repair

June 16th

I called Apple to see if my iMac was ready, I told them that someone had told me 48hrs, he said it usually takes 7 days (told me to wait 7 days from 13th of june)

June 20th

Waited 7 Days.. I call once again to check the status, they tell me it will be done later today or tomorrow at the most.

June 21th

I call again, the person on the phone says it will take a few more days, I told him you guys first said 48hrs, then 7 days, I've done my part, I've waited patiently.. I requested for a refurbished one or new one.. He says he will talk to administration and call me back

I am very disappointed, I have no clue why I even switched to mac, its ridiculous.. we pay premium for Apple products, and yet we can't even get decent service..

I'm going to post this everywhere... until I get my iMac back..

If you guys have any feedback on what I should do that would be great..

I bought a 24in i Mac in July 2008 and took out Applecare.

After 12 months the hard drive failed and was replaced under Applecare. In the subsequent 12 months the graphics card failed 3 times. It was replaced twice under Applecare. The third time I told the AC rep that I had lost confidence in the machine. After referring to a superior the rep agreed that the machine should be replaced.

Last month I took delivery of a brand new 27in iMac with a graphics card upgrade as my original had been upspecced on purchase.

Ok, the reliability of my iMac left a lot to be desired and the down time was very inconvenient, but at the end of the day Apple came through with a new machine and you don't get that kind of service with most other insurance policies.

The repair delays can be frustrating but my understanding is often this is down to bench testing to ensure the problem is fixed before returning the unit to the customer. I have nothing but praise for Applecare and the service they gave and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

I also had this problem my 24"3.06ghz iMac had the same problems as above but my hard drive failed on the 2nd day of owning the machine and had 3 previous graphics cards on the 6th of last month my graphics card packed up yet again

On the 10th I dropped the machine of at Apple meadowhall and was told that I would have the machine back within the week lol. on the 18 I received a phone call to inform me that my machine would not be ready for another week due to there been a back log of repairs.

On the 24 I went to pick my machine up from the store to find it chipped and dinted deep after having a full blown argument with the manager the truth came out that the machine had been dropped during the repair and bits had been ordered to fix the machine so as you can imagine I was not a happy chappy.

Result we sorted out a agreement I put £750 and am now a owner of a new 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 Memory, 1TB Serial ATA Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive Machine

All I can say is dont back down and make as much noise as possible

Pardon my ignorance, but where I hear that most of the AppleCare failure happens its overseas, in other countries. I have never ever have any issues with Applecare when I used them couple times.
