powduh Posted June 21, 2010 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Hi All....I am a new hacintosh user....im using a dell dimension E520 with a pentium D 2.80ghz processor....currently i am running an install of ipc 10.5.6 usig the following otions in the customize section of installer: Kernel: Voodoo kernel 9.5.0 Video driver: none installed (intel G965 chipset family listed under windows?) Chipset Drivers: Intel ICHx SATA Drivers Audio Driver: sigmatel 9227 Ethernet Drivers: Intel 82566mm/dc fixes and patches: seatbelt.kext simply put......i have been searching and searching for a snow leopard distro compatible with my system.....nothing!!! have tried a few different retail installs from guides for an E520....nothing!!! they never even get past the apple loading screen on install....just gets a "no smoking" symbol and never loads.......anyone have any further help on this?......I would love to get a functional snow leopard on this pc......if there's a guide out there I haven't found then please point me there....if not could someone help me find a compatible snow leopard distro to work on my system please?.....thanks in advance...powduh Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/221935-help-with-installing-snow-leopard-to-dell-dimension-e520-pentium-d/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
cyrus_cse Posted July 11, 2010 Share Posted July 11, 2010 I'm having the same problem too, but it's because none of the Snow leopard distros have the kext for our southbridge (Intel ICH8R) so it ends up with the still waiting for root device error. Right now Kalyway 10.5.1 works fine for me. iTailsFly Posted September 8, 2010 Share Posted September 8, 2010 Hey there, I'm trying to install this on my sisters PC. I don't know if the video card will work though, it's an ATI X1300 Pro 256MB. I'm using the same chipset and specs as the original poster. Would iPC 10.5.6 also work for her video? Or do I just not select any video at all? I am also trying to dual boot this with Windows XP Media Center.
