Gergely
Hi Guys! I'm new to these virtualizations but i very much would like to understand how you do it... I read the tutorials i read what switch what setting you use but i quite don't understand why and what it does. And i successfully created a mac osx vmware on my AMD toshiba laptop for which i am ever great full ( iPhone sdk for the win. ) I like operating system i like what you can do to them to tweek them but after i read all the tutorials i still don't understand why somebody did what he did... So my question is that please if you have time could somebody explain to me the following things: What is darwin iso and how did you create one. I know it's a POSIX and that it basically is the boot loader ? ( not sure.. ) What do these settings do and how the hell did you figure out that they were needed ich7m.present = "TRUE" smc.present = "FALSE" For now my vmware runs a Russian image of snow leopard but i like to change that. To be honest i have a working an brought copy of vmware and i have a legal copy of snow leopard too. So i would like to create an image myself for real job usage ( mainly iPhone development ). I know it's hard since OSX was built on apple computers but... somebody already did it. So i would very much like to understand how and why all this works If you have the time to write it down or link to some sites which is was unable to find. ( i promise i looked really hard. ) Thanks to everybody how rights it down! LeXa2
What is darwin iso and how did you create one. I know it's a POSIX and that it basically is the boot loader ? ( not sure.. ) Your question looks like a huge meaningless mess of various words. When you write "darwin iso" you should provide us with a context to tell you exactly what does this means. "Darwin" is the codename for the POSIX-compatible OS developed by Apple and it is basically the base component of each Mac OS X OS (most notably the XNU kernel). ISO is the abbrev that may mean a lot of various things depending on the context. When it comes to the computers most times the meaning is "file containing the image of CD/DVD ISO9660 filesystem". What do these settings do and how the hell did you figure out that they were needed ich7m.present = "TRUE" smc.present = "FALSE" This are pretty self-explaining. First one turns on the Intel ICH7M south-bridge emulation presented to the guest VM, second one disables the emulation of the System Management Controller. SMC is responsible for many various things including the storage place for the hardware key that is shared between all of the original apple hardware. If you really want to get in details - find some time and search/read forum treads - the answers are all there and have been posted numerous times. Google is also your good friend. Search for "apple SMC key" and you will find out all the required information.
