node
I will like to know, how is the best and simplest way to update iDeneb 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 without losing my the existing kernel. When I upgraded to 10.5.8, it loaded the Voodoo kernel, and now, I must type>> voodoo>> cpus=1; every time to get back in, otherwise the system just goes into the restart loop. On 10.5.7 I never had to do this, the system just boots normally. When I installed 10.5.7 initially, I choose Chameleon v2 and 9.7.0 Qoopz as the Kernel. But when I used the iDeneb 10.5.8 updater, by default, it loaded the Voodoo kernel, and over written the Cpus=1 fix. Is there away to get around this? Thanks.. Just re-install your Kernel and CPUs=1 fix from your 10.5.7 install disc. Be sure to unselect EVERYTHING else in the installer including the "base system" and it will install/overwrite the Kernel and fix from the iDeneb update. node
Michael thanks for the heads up. I followed this thread. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=0#entry1493889 and it worked out fine. I now do not have to type voodoo and cpus=1 to get back in 10.5.8. Also I updated the Qoopz kernel to 9.8. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/221759-how-to-update-to-1058/#findComment-1495472 Share on other sites
