ATI 4870 fixed!!! on 10.6.4..

looks like i'm stuck using the old 10.6.2 ATI files..

had to copy the following three ATI4800controller, ATIFramebuffer and ATISupport (all 3 are on 1.6.6 version) to S/L/E.

also needed LegacyATI4800Controller.Kext in /Extra/Stored_Kexts

I run both EvoEnabler.kext, and LegacyATI4800Controller.kext with Graphics Enabler set to Yes and lm using the vanilla 10.6.4 updated files no problems at all.

Updated to those kexts, has been running for about 10 minutes now without display problems. Thanks (knock on wood).

My profiler says that I'm running a 4890 though, when the card is a 4870. Any idea how to fix this? Some .plist I need to update or something?

Hm, I'm getting a bunch of these white lines through everything running. Is there a fix for this?

Hey guys,

It has been a long time since I've done anything to my 10.6.4 Snow Leopard setup and I've forgotten a lot of the locations and commands for critical items, etc. I'm switching over to a 4870 from the 9400GT that has served me well since I built this rig a while back. Can you guys remind me which folder these ATIextra files go in. Is it /System/Library/Extensions? There's no EVOenabler.kext or LegacyATI4800Controller.kext in there at this point.

Thanks!
