Hi,

I am trying to set up my laptop so I can use a partition bigger than 6GB for OS X, but when I try to boot off the darwin install CD, it gets to the part of loading the OS and then shows the Mac logo and exists with a kernel panic and the message:

Waiting for remote debugger

No debugger configured

Before this error message it has a mac address listed which is all 0s.

Can someone please help!?!?!

There is never an Apple screen if darwin is really booting I don't think.

I am trying to set up my laptop so I can use a partition bigger than 6GB for OS X, but when I try to boot off the darwin install CD, it gets to the part of loading the OS and then shows the Mac logo and exists with a kernel panic and the message:

This is not an error message. But wait, you said you're getting a kernel panic? Would you be so kind and give us just a little hint about the panic, so guessing what might be your problem will be a little bit easier?

Here are my specs:

Dell inspiron 1200 laptop

1.3Ghz Celeron M Processor

760 MB RAM

Intel 915G Display Adapter

Intel PRO/100 Ethernet Adapter

Dell WLAN Adapter

Sigmatel C-Major sound card

One thing worth noting is that the ox86 boots up without any mods right from deadmoo's image. Infact, all my hardware works without any problems.

Now I am wondering if it something wrong with the CD I am using.

I just tried installing Darwin on my desktop PC and it boots up to the bootloader on the CD and then starts loading the OS from the CD and proceeds to just reboot the machine.

I have tried the a few times now.

Here is the complete error message I get:

panic(cpu 0): thread_init: kmem_suballoc for stacks failed - ret =3

ethernet MAC address: 00:00:00:00:00:00

ip address: 0.0.0.0

Waiting for remote debugger connection.

kdp_poll: no debugger device

This whole error message has a backdrop of the apple logo screen (the grey boot screen for Mac OS).

I would really appreciate help in solving this problem.

Im had the same problem so I tried the line -v platform=x86pc and it got past that and even loaded the gui saying welcome to tiger or whatever but I had not mouse. Im installing on a P4 3.4ghz laptop. I dont know what to do. It will stop saying the IDE card failed once in a while or just sit there saying waiting for root device.
