지안
I've already read the HELP I'M A NOOB! thread however, I didn't understand completely so I just want to make sure about the hardware compatibilities. Here's my CPUID: How about the video card? My video card is GeForce 8400 GS, is it compatible? Anymore compatibility requirements besides the hardware? Thanks! The Southbridge chipset is an important factor in determining how to and if you can install OS X (Leopard and/or Snow Leopard).......how much RAM is installed? What is the VRAM on your GeForce 8400 GS graphics card......?

verdant
Here: GeForce 8400 GS 256mb Your MOBO I believe has: North Bridge VIA P4M900 South Bridge VIA VT8237A Onboard Video Chipset VIA Chrome9 HC IGP Onboard Audio Chipset Realtek ALC662 Onboard LAN Chipset Realtek 8201CL however, the VIA chipset is not a very common MOBO chipset here in the forum but see here.......... Hope this gets you started......... You also need to set your BIOS up correctly: Execute Disable Bit [Enabled] ACPI APIC Support [Enabled] ACPI Suspend Mode [s3] or [s1] or [s1 and S3] SATA Controller Mode [AHCI] or Serial-ATA Configuration [Enabled] Your BIOS may have slightly different names for the above........ verdant
Thanks again! So my hardware's compatible isn't it? I hope to see a step by step tutorial for my system soon Do not know about that.........but suggest you try with a Leopard distro first, e.g. Leo4Allv3............ I suppose I should also tell you what to disable in BIOS (that is, if you have these BIOS options): Limit CPUID MaxVal [DISABLED] Enhanced C1 (C1E) [DISABLED] Virtualization Technology [DISABLED] or [ENABLED] Does not appear to make a difference whether ENABLED or DISABLED. Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology [DISABLED]

I'm confused which one to follow between these guides: Install MAC OS X on any intel-based PC and Dual Boot: Windows 7 and MAC OS X I want to dual boot my PC with Windows 7 and MAC Thanks! The first link you posted is for a method that was designed and tested for any desktop or laptop running the latest line of Intel processors, the Core i3/i5/i7s, with reports of success with older machines as well including CoreDuo, Core2Duo, and even Pentium 4........so try it........ Will your OS X and Windows 7 system volumes be on the same HDD? Or, will each be on their own HDD? The latter situation makes dual booting easy......
