uPod
hey guys, i'm looking at building a Hackintosh and was wondering what hardware i should go with to get a working hackintosh? i really want to go with AMD because the mboards and CPU's are cheaper than intel's, but i know apple use intel CPU's so obviously it would most likely be easier to go with them. what can you guys recommend? thanks
mdnz01
I recommend going with an i5/i7 if you're looking for some good performance. Any P55 Gigabyte board will do. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....amp;x=0&y=0 If you see a nice one, just reply and I'll have a look at it. If P55 is too expensive please say what your budget is.

KdeK
It matters what you expect of a PC. If you want cutting-edge and cheap indeed choose AMD. I wanted to have a second mac but could not afford a new one. So I bought old PC stuff on eBay-like secondhand websites and had fun for many evenings playing/tweaking/installing in order to build my own Hackintosh. Of course the specs were not incredible but my 100 euro Hackintosh is as fast as my 1300 euro MacBook (Ok,Ok, I had to spend an additional 300 euro's for a 24 inch display). This is what I have Asus p5gd1-pro, 3 Ghz P4, 2Gb RAM, NVidia 8500/512Mb, 100 Gb HD Since I was a nitwit regarding Hackintosh, it took me some time to get used to terminology etc. But finally it was not so difficult as expected since many bootloaders are available. Good luck
uPod
hey bro, thanks for the reply. what are the mboards that are easily compatible with running OSX? the i5 is a high end chip, at least to me it is. the AMD gear seems much harder to get running using OSX. i tried using my old A64 and could never get it to work. is there a list of mboards that work easily with OSX out there some place? thanks

PG Studio
I recently installed Snow Leopard on a ASUS P5Q Deluxe and it was smooth. No problems at all.
oswho?
I am a noob in this whole OSX idea. I would really like to try this out. My issue... I live in a walk in closet. (Not really, but that is a good representation of space). I have a silverstone case, ps, with an old p4 MB in it. I would like to change out the MB and start a hackentosh with this case. Can anyone recommended a micro atx board that will make this work as easily as possible? Everytime I find one on any of the compatibility lists on this board or others, it is no longer in production. Thanks for the help! Guy :-)
