Try plugging in an external display, on some laptops the OS X drivers think the external display is the main display. You should be able to fix this once you have the OS up and running. Here's an old thread for the X1300-1400 Mobility cards: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33153 Type E1505 in the search box above, there are installation guides available and several other topics about your laptop here on IM. Do you think there is a way to disable the external graphics card output?
Beerkex'd
Type 'paperclip trick' in the search box. Don't know if that works with ATI mobility cards though but take a look. It's a laptop. Can't you take it to a friends house and plug in their monitor?
