Mac Junky Posted May 24, 2010 Share Posted May 24, 2010 Hi guys, Apologies if this issue is elsewherre, i've tried searching but to no avail. My hackintosh - Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Asus P5E-VM HDMI GTX 275 SB X-Fi 3 x SATA HD, 1 x SATA BD-ROM/DVDRW Sometimes it boots, sometimes i get still waiting for root device. teh only difference is that you hear the DVD drive being polled constanly if it doesnt want to boot. The OSX HD is SATA port 5. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Also, is ther a 10.6.3 KEXT that enables boot without AHCI as i seem to have lost that ability post .3 update. Really been pulling my hair out! cheers, Mark EDIT: now resolved (it seems) by recompiling dsdt.aml. imacken Posted May 24, 2010 Share Posted May 24, 2010 Sorry, can't help then. You've got ICH9R chipset and JMicron. Should work if you are running on AHCI. Maybe some others will chip in to help. Mac Junky Posted June 2, 2010 Author Share Posted June 2, 2010 Confirmed resolved, and also worth pointing out that the 10.6.3 update contained something in there, i'm guessing an IntelATASomething.kext, that allows boot via SATA rather than AHCI which in general has improved the speed of everything!!
