vyan28
hey guys i have a: GIGABYTE x58a-UD3R Intel i7-930 WD750GB BFG 8800GT i followed this tutorial, the #####: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/ and then this http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/dua...-os-x-snow.html this works better than the kakewalk because for some reason, the kakewalk CD doesn't boot. i wanted to know, does it matter which one you install first? because i installed SL first and then Windows 7 - the harddrive is split in two 3 petition - 1. SL 2. Win7 3. Data - once i installed win7 after SL, the computer boots to win 7. thats understandable - i go back, put in the ##### cd, boot up to SL and dloaded the .zip package, installed the PC EFI 10.1, did the terminal thing (how do i know if i set the partition active successfully?), and restarted. - what happens is that it boots up to win7, and before the windows logo can fully establish, it reboots. - what is going on? I havent updated my SL yet. it's 10.6. and wanted to know if its possible to update without any further configurations.
Mackilroy
You shouldn't have any issues with using Kakewalk on your hardware. Did you enable USB in the BIOS? If you don't it'll never work (I had that problem). I used Kakewalk on my own system (EX58-UD5 w/i7-930 and an HD 4890) and it worked quite smoothly. A guide to what I did: 1. Install Snow Leopard 2. Swap 8800 GT for HD 4890 3. Update to 10.6.2 4. Update to 10.6.3. 5. Install QE/CI exotic pkg and a fix for fix pkg from netkas.org 6. Remove all hard drives except the one I installed Win7 on 7. Install Windows 7 8. Put OS X hard drive back in 9. ??? 10. Profit! Kidding about the last two. But now I dual-boot both SL and Win7. No issues at all. You should give Kakewalk another shot - just don't forget to enable USB in the BIOS.
