I installed iDeneb 1.4 (10.5.6). The only things I've changed are a kext for wifi and com.apple.boot.plist. I ran system update once, then remembered that I shouldn't and quit without clicking the update button. The patches outlined here I installed.

I need 10.5.8 to run skype. I've heard that you can update to 10.5.8 just fine if you have a vanilla kernel (is this true, do i have one, can i get one) and if I have some other flavor or whatnot how do I update (I have all the 10.5.x updates downloaded to my other computer (.dmg file or whatever type they are).

Open Terminal and type uname -a, post the output here.

If you're not running the vanilla kernel, you can prepare for an update like this:

I use skype 2.8.0.851 and when I call skype test it "crashes unexpectedly". Is there one that works on 10.5.6
