fallchild
I have the Dell 1545 T4400 with the GMA4500 graphics. I originally followed this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=203728 and its great and very helpful. I went through the 14 pages that span a couple months and it gets a bit confusing because it seems everyone is using different files or doing different things to get things to work. I install SL and dl the 10.6.3 and install it, reboot, wifi still works so i add the voodoobattery.kext and that gets the battery icon working in the bar up top. Next I install -Audio: AppleHDA 1.8.4fc3, patched for IDT 92HD71B7X and Wireless Dell 1397: Latest IO80211Family patched to enable 14e4:4315 devices..reference article here : http://deviato.wordpress.com/2010/03/31/10...-driver-update/. I didnt install the wireless kext because wireless was working fine. Now if you guys are familiar with Doriean's original guide on the boot cd you have the "Post Install" Folder which is where i believe my problems begin. I cannot get the proper resolution with the kexts from dorieans post and the http://deviato.wordpress.com/2010/02/24/ch...-gma-version-2/ this is supposed to fix that but I get the "please restart the mac" error and i can only boot off disc. When i create the Extra folder on the Snow Leopard partition and add the files from dorieans post install folder from the boot disc i lose keyboard support and cant click anything either. I have the mouse/track pad kexts installed from http://deviato.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/de...leopard-10-6-2/ and i made sure not to add the PS2 kexts that are in the post install folder to the extra folder so it wouldnt conflict with the kexts i already have that are working for it. My last question regards sleepenabler. Im refering to this post http://deviato.wordpress.com/2010/03/23/en...-inspiron-1545/ which says to just add the dsdt.aml to the root of the drive. I assume you need to get the 10.6.3 sleepenabler and install that to the Extra folder? Can you use kext utility to install all kexts properly? If anyone can understand this or give me a rundown of how you got things running i would appreciate it and thanks to Doriean and Deviato for their work/help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218695-looking-for-some-help-with-the-dell-1545-or-an-updated-guide/ Share on other sites
