the os x can be installed on logical partition!!

Also, see the dual booting in this, there's a way to boot from logical partition:

I didn't know that , thanks for the info , but unfortunately for you ,you still need to delete your 300 GB partition (My own stuff (300GB)..Logical) as its your first logical partition . and if you do that i don't see any advantages over making it primary . and also it says for Tiger 10.4 ,its OOOOOLD

and the second link looks like a lot of pain ,and it says 10.5.2 ,and you should have XP ,GParted ,... and overall its an old method (maybe not be Snow compatible) , and the new chameleon (version 2 and above) do the dual booting thing without pain (and kinda beautifully )

and thanks again for the links ,but I still recommend to install it on a primary partition , we got enough problem in our hands ,we don't need more :D

THAAANKS :D :D :D :D

and good luck

yeah, well I figured that after trying it, I made a partition & made it at the first of the extended, but the problem was in the booting issue, as Win 7 don't use the boot.ini file, it uses the 200MB system partition which I can't access it till now, & I'm still searching for a way to access it...LOL

The other problem is that I won't be able to make a new primary partition, as after googling, I discovered that you've as a max 4 primary partitions only without extended, so if I delete the 300GB & made for example 50GB primary for OS X, so the rest 250 GB won't be able to be partitioned neither primary nor extended, that's my problem till now, so many one on the web were planning to remove the recovery partition after making the recovery discs, & actually I don't want to do that, now I don't know what to do....

Hi dastan

I am so frustrated :-(

When I get to:

download Legacy Kernel 10.3 here

14- install it .

15- now there must be a new mach_kernel inside your SL root drive .

16- copy that new mach_kernel to your desktop ,and delete the one inside your root folder .

(if the new mach_kernel named Legacy_kernel , rename it to mach_kernel)

I cnanged legacy_kernel to mach_kernel and also replaced the mach_kernel after installing the update to 10.6.3, I am rebooting after the panic but it refuses to go up because it claims I need legacy_kernel.

If I am not touching this file and just making a copy of it as "mach_kernel" i get this message: "mach-0 has bad magic number"

I don't know what to do... I am going crazy...

Please please please help me

thanks,

otomat

well now its in your hands . but me personally thinks that you better delete the 300 GB and use it all in OSX,but your decision !!

no worries and calm down :)

how do you know that it needs Legacy_kernel ,where did it says ? please be more specific .

and where did you get mach-0 has bad magic number ?

well to be honest , I didn't heard about that problem ,but try this

1- when installing 10.3 kernel ,leave the Legacy_kernel in its place inside the root and don't change a thing

2- install 10.6.3 and let it panic

3- reboot and type , cpus=1 busratio=17 legacy_kernel

(replace 17 if you don't have i5 430m, and by typing legacy_kernel it should use it instead of mach_kernel )

if not

someone here managed to fix it with reinstalling the kernel , so try to replace the kernel inside win7 instead :

(((( NOTE : DO THIS STEP IF ONLY YOU COULD NOT REPLACE THE KERNEL IN TIME BEFORE THE PANIC ::

after the panic , reboot inside win7 , and install macdrive 8 , the using mac drive replace the new mach_kernel with the one inside your SL drive and then reboot and follow the following , you should be able to extrack mach_kernel from legacy_kernel 10.3 dmg by using 7-zip))))

and the GUIDE should work perfectly on HP dv6 i5 430m ,pm55 ,nvidia105m ( I hackintoshed 3 my self) ,and if you have another model you may need a little extra tweaking to get it right ,don't give up

GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH :)

dastan, breaking news!

for the first time, i succeeded puting both win7 and osx on my laptop.

i didn't follow all your procedure bacause, i dont know how to. i get panic no matter what i do. i simply instlled hazard and then the 10.3 which installs the legacy_kernel.

the problem is that i still have to put cpus=1 and busratio=17 each time. i don't know if this slows the computer, but it is annoying that i have to put them each time.

the other problem is that none of my cumputer hardware is working. i finally got the specs (taken using everset):

cpu: DualCore Intel Core i5 520M, 2915 MHz (22 x 133)

chipset: Intel Ibex Peak-M PM55, Intel Ironlake-M

memory: 4gb

audio: IDT 92HD75B3 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH - High Definition Audio Controller [b-2]

audio: nVIDIA HDMI @ nVIDIA GT216 - High Definition Audio Controller

wireless: Broadcom 43225 802.11b/g/n

lan: Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M\320M, cuda, 1gb

so what do i do with both problems?

thanks, otomat

CONGRATULATIONS , Im Happy :(

okay now , you have to type in cpus=1 busratio=17 because you didn't upgrade to 10.6.3 (10.6.3 brings partial support for unsupported i5's)(by the way i think correct busratio is 18 for 520M)

and for the slow down i really don't know , and if you want you can add that to your com.apple.plist in /extra folder as I mentioned in the end of the guide to avoid typing it every time ,

and for the hardware I really don't have that much info about how to get them to work , I normally install ##### and it works perfectly (but may causes problem to your dualboot) ,search the hardware section in the forum and you should find what you looking for ,not sure but as far as i can tell, your hardware all supported except the WIFI card .

and again congratulations . :D :D :D :D :D

Hi dastan

Thanks for everything. The computer is stable for couple of days now, running both win7 and osx.

My only left issues are:

1. need to write each time cpus=1 busratio=18 or else it won't come up.

2. Still no battecy indication (didn't found a kext for that).

3. No wireless kext (I have Broadcom 43225) which is really annoying...

Anything you can help me with these?

thanks,

otomat

YOU ARE WELCOME :D

1- try to write cpus=1 busratio=18 in kernel flags in com.apple.boot.plist found in /extra folder inside snow's root

2- I Used Voodoobattery Kext found HERE . be careful it may give you a KP .

3- the Wireless is the least supported device here , I didn't find mine ,and i kept WIN7 just for that .

Good Luck :):D;)

Hi dastan

I tried this kext and it doesn't work for me.

When I mark the show battery it acting like it is going to show it but then the checkbox is empty again after 2 seconds...

I'll give a try to the plist issue and I simply cannot wait until they found some solution to the wireless issue, otherwise, what's the power of a laptop?

Again, thanks for all your help and patience!

Again you are most Welcome .

for the WiFi ,if you coulnt find a working Kext ,you can always buy an USB WIFI adapter that is compatible with OSX (Google it and you'll be fine ).
