kkhHi

I see that there are many of you that have installed SL onto a GA P55 MB, but for some reason I am having a few problems.

This is my spec.

GA P55 UD5 MB

i5 750 CPU

80GB HDD

4GB Ram

ATI 4850 GFX Card

Followed the guide on the main page and have set my bios up as instructed. Boot of the ##### ATI CD. when thats loaded I swap discs and insert the SL Retail DVD and start with a -x. That churns away for a few mins and ends up stopping at :-

Any help or advice to get past this would be great.

Thanks in advance

Your main problem was your video card, which you partially solved. That being said, I suggest you set the ATI card aside and obtain an Nvidia 9500 GT (the Galaxy 512 works best) card to get yourself started. You will need to download and burn the ##### Nvidia boot CD. make sure USB in enabled in BIOS and begin again. You should be able to get a smooth running install using Tony's ##### and the DSDT for your board from his site.

Once up and running if you just gotta have that ATI card, swap with the Nvidia and set about getting the video to work. Presonally, the ATI cards are way more trouble than they are worth - I have tried a few and have had a hassle with everyone, whereas the Nvidia 9500 series work with almost no effort.
