I can not seem to make friends with Google on this issue.

I would like to know how or if I can use terminal to set a default that allows OSX to make the smallest file vs the fastest time when I right click and select Compress.

Anyone here that can help?

THANKS

Hi mikecwest.

As of date, there isn't much any setting available to set that. But. But.

You can try installing the Archives Preference Pane.

It gives you three options for compressing files.

1)Compressed Archive

2) Regular Archive

3) ZIP Archive

Probably that should be between fastest -> smallest in descending order.

And, that same thing also allows tweaking several other settings related to Archiving and UnArchiving.

hi Chokra, never heard about this before. Is it already into system, on retail disc,..?

from where can I get it?

thanks

EDIT: Got it already,

-go to /System/Library/CoreServices

-right click Archive utility and Show package Contents

-go to /Contents/ressources

-double click on Archives.PrefPane

-choose to install it for current user only or for all users

-type in your pass

and..that's it

Yup there it is!

Great, Some finding you did! :thumbsup_anim:

The easy way was using Cocktail, and uhm, TinkerTool. :pirate2:

One click solution.

Enjoy! :dance_24:
