10.5.8 to 10.6.2 update [question]

hello, i am kind of new to this scene... i've done a few things but i'm no expert.

 

i installed 10.5.8 from netkas (i believe... maybe it was jas...)on a PC with the next specs:

 

gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 motherboard

intel core 2 duo 6600

4GB kingston DDR2 hyperx RAM

80Gb HDD

gigabye nvidia 8800 320Mb

 

everything is running fine right now (except for digital spdif audio which i can't figure out, but that's another thing) and i want to upgrade to snow leopard 10.6.2 so i can keep up with protools future versions.

 

I've read a few tutorials online, but most of them require another clean HDD or an efi partition (which i don't have...)

 

so any advice on how to do it from the same installation HDD without having to format and without an EFI partition would be greatly appreciated
