toolbox1234
I have 10.6.0 installed on my GigaByte GA-965P-DS3 rev 1. On top of it, I added Microsoft keyboard driver for the MS keyboard and VoodooHDA for my ALC883 sound chip. Because I can't reassign the special keys on the keyboard, I decided to un-install the MS stuff and start over. However, I got KP after the uninstall. It complains something about PCI device not found and the message seems to indicate it is relate to the sound chip. To see if it is the problem, I booted with -s flag and deleted the VoodooHDA.kext in /S/L/E. The system will boot into GUI after that but I still get KP after few minutes. Since I have a recent backup on Time Machine, I decided to do a full restoration. Restoration went fine but I can't boot anymore. The attached picture shows the result of the boot attempt. How should I proceed from this point? Thanks. Beerkex'd
You need to re-install the Chameleon bootloader. Maybe all you need to do is copy the file "boot" to the root of your OS X drive. toolbox1234
No luck. Just replace boot did not do anything. useing step 3 of http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181903 to re-install boot loader result in "not able to open PCI device" for VoodooHDA. (Even though the thread is for another mobo but I was able to bring up SL with info from the thread on my GA-965p-DS3.
