  1. I have an EFI based 500GB hard drive with 3 partitions. One has CarbonCopy of Leopard, one has CarbonCopy of Snow Leopard and the third is used as time machine for SL. The hard drive has developed some bad sectors recently and I want to move the content off it before it is too late. Is there some app I can use to clone the whole drive to another 500GB? Thanks.
  2. Need help with a XFX 4850 1GB

My card have one DVI, one HDMI and one VGA port. What package are you using? Thanks.
  3. Need help with a XFX 4850 1GB

No packages installed. Just modified ATI4800Controller.kext with 4850's id.
  4. Need help with a XFX 4850 1GB

By using a modified ATI4800Controller.kext, I am able to run a XDX 4850 card on 10.6.7. However, I can only get video off the HDMI port. When I run hareware profiler, it shows the monitor connects to the DVI port and nothing on the HDMI port. When the system boots up, it will switch to the HDMI port no matter if there is a monitor connected to it or not. What do I need to do to have the DVI port as my primary display port? Thanks.
  5. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

Are you sure you don't have a DSDT file. If I don't use one, my BIOS' checksum will be messed up and I have to re-setup my BIOS settings every time I restart.
  6. Running Parallels Desktop 6 under SL 10.6.7. When I want to restart or shutdown, Parallels often cancels the restart/shutdown because it takes time to suspend the guest OS. Is there a way to let Parallels does its things then continue to restart/shutdown. For now, I have to issue the restart/shutdown commands twice. Thanks.
  7. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

I didn't have luck with VoodooHDA either. I patched AppleHDA.kext and is working with my 2 speakers setup. I did re-generate DSDT.aml because I was trying different things to get audio. In the end, I don't know if the DSDT.aml is the same I had for 10.6.5 or not. I do not have NullCPUPowerManagement in E/E.
  8. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

I followed the instruction in the OP of http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=235523 to use native power management. Sleep works without any SleepEnabler.
  9. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

I downloaded FakeSMC from http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showforum=165 . I tried Easy Beast but it did not work. My setup was started with retail (followed the guide at http://www.insanelymac.com/2009/08/how-to-.../#comment-15475 ), all upgrades were done through software updates. As part of the initial installation, I installed Chameleon 2 RC4. Now I am running one of the RC5 build because some posts said I need it to get audio. The only reason I updated to 10.6.6 (now 10.6.7) is because my GeForce 7900cs broke and I need to have it working with a HD4350.
  10. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

Under E/E, I don't have a whole lot. The FakeSMC and IntelCPUMonitor.kext are from the thread "DSDT Auto-Patcher" to enable me to monitor speed & temp of my CPU.
  11. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

By patching the 10.6.7 AppleHDA.kext with instruction from one of the thread here, I got audio from my ALC883 sound chip on my GA-965P DS3 v1.0. All I did is replace all "85 08 EC 10" with "83 08 EC 10" AppleHDA.kext. I tried so many different things and it is possible there are other stuff I did that may made a difference but I am not sure. The thing that I bug me about voodooHDA is that I don't get normal sound. However, if I tap on my mic, tap sound is coming out of my speakers! Actually, I get noise from the speakers as I type because the mic picks up sound from my keyboard. UPDATE: I gave up (for now) and installed my 16 yr old Sound Blaster Live. Other than the sound chip issue, the unit is running great.
  13. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

I updated my GA-965P-DS3 v1.0 to 10.6.7 via software update. Still looking for way to get audio.
  14. DSDT Auto-Patcher

Except voodoo doesn't work for me...
  15. DSDT Auto-Patcher

But that thread is not for ALC883. Is there something specific there?
