Since the announcement of the new macbook pros I've been looking forward for indications on how to install OS X Snow Leopard on my somewhat new sony laptop.

I couldn't find much, so I'm starting this thread listing a discussion on that topic, and my attempts at installing OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on my Sony Vaio CW290 Laptop. If anyone else is interested to help me, please do so. please post any related information that could help me.

So far, I did not try much but I'm planning to follow this guide:

http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html

I'll update with results once I'm there, if you guys have any suggestions please post them here. I will try my best to keep this thread updated on the installation of OS X on this laptop.

Ok So I'm using a USB flash drive with SL on.. I might actually get the dvd..

Here's what I got so far:

##### boots up fine, then it sees my flash drive with SL on it.

First I tried booting with enter by itself, I got some repetitive error message that stopped at some point.

2nd I tried with busratio=19... got an error about ACPI driver. (note: I can't get to this anymore, not sure how I got to this screen in the first place)

Since I can't change my mobo to AHCI mode in the bios, I'm going to give this a try:

http://www.ithinkdiff.com/how-to-enable ... stallation

That guide did not help because it looks like it was already in AHCI mode in Win7.

Here's a list of what I have in the Bios:

Intel® Virtualization Technology [Enabled]

Boot Configuration, External Device Boot: [Enabled]

Boot Priority is set to boot cd first, external device 2nd and hdd is 3d.

That's it.. (I'm used to desktop bios)

After doing all that {censored} I went back to #####. Found my SL usb drive, and I tried booting using "busratio=19" and "-x" and "busratio=19 -x"

Then I see

"EBIOS read error: controller or device error Block 0x802 Sectors 0"

"EBIOS read error: controller or device error Block 0x804 Sectors 0"

"EBIOS read error: controller or device error Block 0x81c Sectors 0"

each of them appear a couple of times.

I need help!

Thank you very much for posting this info, and thank you for your efforts!

I am also interested in installing SL onto a Sony Vaio CW series, with the Intel Core i5 and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (just like the new MacBook Pros).

Some kind soul, please help JBLanteigne out with his installation - this will help us all out and contribute so much, if we can figure out how to get this working!

Thank you!
