mkprk
About 2 weeks ago I got a Sony HDR-HC1 camcorder. I was able to record and import video using iMovie with 10.4.6. Since the 10.4.7 update though, I havent, I can control the camera fine, it even shows the time marker in iMovie, it crashes whenever its about to play video. Ive tried using some 10.4.4 firewire kexts but that doesnt seem to work. There was an update for iMovie, but I cant remember if I installed the update before or after I put 10.4.7 on. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks, Mike. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21577-hdr-hc1-problems/ Share on other sites
Groffy77
I am insanely jealous that you have the Sony HDR-HC1. My suggestion: change back to 10.4.6, then install the update for iMovie, if that was the problem, reinstall iMovie before the update and install the 10.4.7 update. If 10.4.7 is the problem, go back to 10.4.6 and update iMovie. I'm sure there isn't enough of a difference between 10.4.6 and 10.4.7 to notice. .. and then someone who knows stuff about kext(s) can help you further. mkprk
I used AppZapper and removed iMovie, then reinstalled. Hooked up the camera with version 6.0, still didnt work. Then I updated to version 6.0.2, and it still didnt work. Im guessing its a problem with 10.4.7. If someone could send me all 5 firewire kexts from 10.4.6, I'd really appreciate it. cooldraft
How did you get the kexts? Where can I find them? I am trying to get firewire to work and have tried everything on the wiki. I am back to 10.4.3 due to this. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21577-hdr-hc1-problems/#findComment-148286 Share on other sites

Vishaakje
I have the same problem with my Sony HDR-HC1, did you find a solution yet? I don't have too many important things on this osx install (and I can easyly back up) so I'll try installing 10.4.6 today to see if importing works (doesn't work for iMovie or FCE here). I don't know how to send you the firewire kexts, but if you'll describe here I'll mail them (if it works that is ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21577-hdr-hc1-problems/#findComment-150816 Share on other sites
