Dajjal
I'm having HD spikes Only when skipping through projects, not if i leave it to play.On some projects its not much of a spike but on others it goes straight into the red,but i dont the the Audio engine errors or anything like that.I've disabled Journaling an did a clean install but same prob. All projects are played from a secondary HD not the OS drive. Can anyone try opening the demo songs that come with logic an test this out to see if it's the same on your end. This way i can use the same content an we can see if it' just my system or it's something overall. 1.Spaceman - The Killers (This is by far the worst one it spikes straight into the red) 2.The Fear - Lily Allen (Not as bad but spikes as well) 3.You'll Find A Way (Remix) Santigold (This is the best that i tested,) 4.The Numbers Game (Same as others) Damm i believe i posted this in the wrong section,My bad. Dajjal
Ok since no one has any suggestions, can the Guru's here tell me if this can be linked to errors in DSDT or kext's?? nobbynator
Hi Mate I'm on Leopard (5.8) but I'll give it a try for you later ( I only have 1 demo song, think it's the Theivery Corporation) I'm on a tosh laptop too so mine will probably struggle, have to say I haven't had any HD spikes in any of my sessions though, runs pretty smooth Nobby Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215754-logic-pro-9-users/#findComment-1452172 Share on other sites
nobbynator
Back finally fella No HD spikes for me! Although I got a CPU low from the demo song (my machine isn't exactly speedy anyway) not sure how to help, need someone with more expertise than me. Give me a shout if you need me to test anything else though. Good luck Nobby Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215754-logic-pro-9-users/#findComment-1454135 Share on other sites
muchlife
my HD meter barely budges playing or skipping through those demo songs what RPM speed is the HD they are playing from? perhaps maybe the motor that spins the platter is slowly dying on your drive and you just don't notice it outside logic because no other programs push 'read from disk' that hard you can never rule out kexts if your using patched ones. list your install method you used and which added or patched kexts you installed. Perhaps drive related kexts such as JmicronATA, LegacyIOAHCIBlockStorage etc might be an issue on your machine I am on GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard with Core 2 Quad, retail vanilla install with following kexts LegacyIOAHCIBlockStorage.kext fakesmc.kext AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext AppleDecrypt.kext ACPIPS2Nub.kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215754-logic-pro-9-users/#findComment-1454320 Share on other sites
Dajjal
Thanks guys for your help here what my E/E folder has ALC889a.kext fakesmc.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext IONetworkingFamily.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext OrangeIconFix.kext PlatformUUID.kext i tried this DSDT which only uses 2 kext but still had the same problem http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...097&st=2360 My sig has my info but here are the specs on the drives OS> WD 640 32 Meg x 7200 Audio drive WD 1 Tb 32 Meg x 7200 I also tried moving the demo projects to the OS drive an same results. One thing i've noticed though is that on 9.02 it does not spike up into the red as with 9.1.1.Also this does not happen with Software Inst or Loops just Audio files.I dont have pro tools or any thing else that has a HD meter like logic to see,i have Melodyne an well it's working smooth.if i leave it to play well there are no spikes but once i start to play from random sections that's where it spikes.I tried doing a clean install with no third party plugs, same problem.would it be safe to say that it's more Project related, the reason being that not all projects behave this way so that means that id it was Hardware no matter what i played i would get those spikes??Other than faulty HD,could a faulty Logic disc cause this??i'm really lost on this one Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215754-logic-pro-9-users/#findComment-1454447 Share on other sites
muchlife
that is quite strange. you have certainly done the right things to be sure its not something simple and easy to overlook. have you tried removing IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext and orangeiconfix to see if those are affecting your drives (im not experienced enough to know they do or are completely irrelevant) i use LegacyIOAHCIBlockStorage.kext , perhaps you want try that just to experiment? (of coarse removing the 2 above kexts) when i use it i dont need any orange icon fix because the presence of this kext fixes my orange icons. im just going on the assumption that any kext that relates to hard drives could be related i doubt a logic install disc with errors would cause this but you never know. a reinstall of logic would seem like the last thing to try after you've thought of and tried the more faster and easier troubleshooting options LegacyIOAHCIBlockStorage.kext.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215754-logic-pro-9-users/#findComment-1455308 Share on other sites
