Guest basseed
Hi everybody, I managed to install Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on my XPS 1640 with this configuration. Intel PM45/ICH9M Intel P9700 Mobility 4670 Broadcom 5784M Intel 5300 WIFI IDT Audio Now, after some days of research and testing I am in this situation. System is 10.6.2 with PC EFI 10.6, 32bit MODE. SATA AHCI is working well at full speed out of the box, but is recognized as Unknown AHCI Controller in System Profiler. All ports are working. The Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5600S is working perfectly with firmware 108B The Broadcom Ethernet is working perfectly after using the recently released dedicated kext for SL, but it needed to create a script wich assigns the correct MAC address at every boot, nothing diffucult. The Ricoh Firewire is working out of the box, but with Invalid GUID error (it seems it doesn't affect it at all). The Mobility Radeon of course is running with no QE/CI, but with full resolution support using the latest RADEON HD Kext. USB working out of the box. IDT Audio working with latest VOODOOHDA Kext. ------------------------------------------------- If you have any questions about how to these things working, please ask. Now the part I ask for help. I am kinda becoming crazy trying to understand how to customize the DSDT to get rid of some problems. Problem #1: I am using EVOReboot.Kext. The system reboots, but when I Shutdown it, it REBOOTS. Problem #2: If I try to put the computer in Sleep, it simpy closes Finder and hangs. Problem #3: I am using the Null Power Management, and the Fake SMC. I can delete the Null power management because the Speedstep is working out of the box (this regards the DSDT I am using wich is already set for this), but it seems to me that the native PManagement is not using all the states, because is almost as hot as the Null one. I tryed the Voodoo mini but it slows down the pc like hell. Problem #4: I am using a compiled DSDT extracted with DSDTSE. The DSDT claims "Intel Cantiga", wich is correct. Now the problem is that i didn't understand if this extracted dsdt is really suited for my sistem or if is a generic. I don't know if I should personalize it extracting ACPI tables from linux, maybe? ALSO, ALL THE FIXES I CAN FOUND ON THIS FORUM ARE NOT RELATED TO CANTIGA PLATFORM (PM45). Indeed, these fixes are related to lines I often cannot find in my dsdt. I need someone to explain how to customize it and how to get it to help my system run better, expecially regarding power management, pstates, shutdown and sleep problems, etc. Thank you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215562-dell-xps-1640-snow-leopard-1062-achievements-and-help-needed/ Share on other sites
