Okay, so I have a Powerbook G4 running 10.4.11 right now, and I just got Pro Tools, only to find that it requires 10.5.5 minimum.

I have a Leopard DVD however, so I tossed that into my Mac, booted up (took forever) and then the install failed. It mentioned something to the tune of: "The installer cannot continue because it cannot find necessary files." Something along those lines. So I tried some troubleshooting:

I tried the CPU hack, tricking the Open Firmware into thinking I have an 867MHz CPU. Same error.

I tried putting the Install DVD onto a FW boot drive and running off that. Same error.

I am basically completely out of ideas. Should I get a new DVD? My optical drive has never given me issues before, so having this problem is an absolute nightmare.

I just want to use Pro Tools. Can anyone give me some tips?

If you have a second system, you can install it via firewire target mode
