Hi All,

A fairly smooth upgrade from 10.6.1 to 10.6.3 - just changed the AppleHDA kext to get the sound (it didn't work initially after I ran software update).

However, I now have the dreaded SMB mounting problem. I cannot mount any SMB shares...just give me an error. I can ping the computer an can remotely access the computer through Remote Desktop Sharing, but I cannot mount its shared drives.

Any advice?

Thanks,

/mdg.

advice? perhaps posting the error message in case someone has run across and solved a similar problem? :)

So I rebooted my Windows share machine and voila...SMB sharing now works. I can mount the share.

OK...funny after you give up and decide to do something that doesn't really make sense and it seems to work. Have no idea why it cured my problem but it did.

Thanks,

Apologies if this is considered off topic, not my intent.

Pretty much the same set up, EP45-UD3L, SOTA 9800GT, Q9550, 4GB, using this kernel

Darwin MacPro.local 10.3.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.3.0: Fri Apr 2 13:26:19 EDT 2010; annappirtrvh v3 :xnu-1504.3.12/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386

but a couple of issues -

Can't get Sound to work (do not see internal sound devices) and have tried a couple of HDA verisons. but no joy

Can you advise which HDA kext your are using? or point me to a good one for this set up?

Time machine not working, worked in 10.6.2, no clue as to why this is. Even tried a different drive - 3 Fireware, 4 internal.

Thanks for any help

Followup, to my last post.

Removed SoundFlower device, rebooted, now have no sound devices at all.

I can't find a tutorial that works with 10.6.3 - don't want to roll back to 10.6.2

done a bunch of searching, read and printed and read again some of the tutorials.

Still scratching my head on this one.

Turned off time machine for now.

Thanks for any help, pointers,

Have sound now, missing extensions in library/extensions. others had the problem with macpro update, found that on the web and got sound going

However, the clue for now is it is NOT AL888 as in 10.6.2

any hints most welcome!!
